During normal operation the Renishaw Tool Probe is mounted to the table. This makes it vulnerable to coolant and chips generated during the machining processes. Debris can adhere to the critical probe surfaces and skew the tool measurements. Flying material pieces or broken tools can physically damage the probe.
The cost of the tool probe repair can easily run into thousands of dollars. The Tool Probe Cover was designed to prevent damage to the probe itself. The cover is made from lightweight aircraft grade aluminum. It is powder coated for a nice visual appearance. Probe cover is held to the table by the array of magnets and because of this it can be quickly removed. No screws or bolts involved.
